Launch Night
Following our mandate at the Open Meeting we had a frantic few months preparing for our official launch night. This took place on 24th January in the Tetley’s suite at Stradey Park.
Again we had an attendance of over 100 people many of whom became members.
The Trust unveiled their new name, which is CRYS16. This welsh acronym stands for Cefnogwyr Rhanbarthol Y Sgarlets and translates as Scarlets Regional Supporters. However, the word “crys” in Welsh means shirt and the Trust is the 16th man.
Ray Gravell spoke about “what it means to be Scarlet” and became our first member! He spoke as always from the heart and it was a pleasure to listen too.
Our Coach Phil Davies introduced a DVD which truly made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up! It contained many great moments of rugby from the Scarlets history from the very early black and white days right up to the current squad.
Our Chief Exec Stuart Gallagher was put on the spot and asked to say a few words he welcomed the addition of a Supporters Trust to Llanelli Scarlets.
We had kind donations of a fantastic buffet form Castell Howell, Balloons from CJ’s of Llanelli and Cinema tickets from the Vue cinema in Swansea. Many thanks again to all for your help.
We had an auction for a signed shirt and ball which were kindly donated by the Club along with a Scarlets shop voucher.
The previous Supporters club very kindly gave us a cheque for the remainder of their funds.
